Police blotter — Feb. 26

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 9:30 p.m. Feb.18 an officer responded to a call about a criminal damage. A woman told the officer that someone shot out the window of her vehicle as her son drove it. The officer observed the vehicle’s back window was missing and what appeared to be “BB” marks on various areas of the vehicle. The officer was told the woman’s vehicle was parked at Barry Elementary School. No suspect has been located.

About 2 a.m. Feb. 18 an officer responded to a call about a fight at Kelly’s Bar and Grill. The officer was told by a bouncer that several males started fighting and threw rocks at a vehicle. The officer spoke to a female who said the person driving the vehicle was her boyfriend. The officer later spoke to the woman’s boyfriend, who said the altercation started inside the bar when three males tried to fight him and called him a racial slur. He said while outside in the parking lot talking to his girlfriend he was hit from behind. While leaving the bar rocks were thrown at his vehicle from an unknown number of people. The officer later observed heavy damage to the man’s vehicle caused by large rocks.

Around 3:39 p.m. Feb. 20 an officer was dispatched to 2100 West 21st to investigate a report of possible child abuse. The officer spoke with medical staff who said a 2-month-old child was brought in by the mother covered in bruises. The officer spoke to the mother who said she noticed bruises on the child after picking the child up from a Portales daycare. The officer observed bruises on the child’s back, chest, groin, leg and right hand. The officer noted that the bruises were not normal for a 2-month-old child. The case was turned over to Portales Police.

Around 8:30 a.m. Feb. 20 an officer was dispatched to Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery to investigate a theft. The officer was told by the cemetery owner that approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel was taken from a fuel storage tank used to fuel a back hoe. The cemetery owner valued the fuel at $100. No suspects have been identified in the theft.

About 9:13 p.m. Feb. 17 an officer responded to a call at Java Loft regarding an injured person. The officer learned that a male had gotten into an argument with a female and head-butted the men’s restroom door out of anger. The man told the officer he punched the wall several times until his fist broke through. The man then kicked the exit door on his way out. The officer observed a fist-sized hole in the Java Loft main hallway. The man was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center.
